BETTY WRIGHT – Hard To Stop, Alston 7026 (Atlantic). Big news on this album is a monster soul version of “I Am Woman,” which is hypnotically riveting in its intensity after an easily-dispensed-with pretentious talk opening. The rest of LP cooks too, The big band charts are outstanding. This is a genuinely superior soul LP from an artist who shows a potential here to be as overwhelmingly musico-dramatic as Aretha.
