Many people would never have thought that a little record called “Full Tilt Boogie” by a somewhat unknown group called Uncle Louie would form the backbone for one of hip hop’s classic founding records. But that’s exactly what happened when producer Rick Rubin decided to chop into “Full TIlt Boogie” for T La Rock and Jazzy Jay’s “It’s Yours.” But most people probably don’t know that Walter Murphy was the brains, heart, and soul behind Uncle Louie, and his own “Fifth of Beethoven” was on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack, one of the most popular albums of all time.
